Florida Air Tours Aerobatic Upgrade: Is the Single or Double Upgrade Worth It?

If you are already booking a Florida Air Tours biplane flight, the aerobatic upgrade is the add-on I would prioritize. We chose the double upgrade, and it was one of the most memorable parts of the entire flight. But here is the important part: I would not pay for the double version again.

The quick verdict

Worth it? YES. Buy the single aerobatic upgrade. The double is fun, but the single gives you the experience and saves about $50 based on the prices posted when we flew.

Single aerobatic upgrade: $99.99 when we flew

Included: 2 wingovers, 1 loop, 1 roll

Double aerobatic upgrade: $149.99 when we flew

Included: 4 wingovers, 2 loops, 2 rolls

Our pick next time: Single

What the aerobatics actually feel like

The aerobatics are what take the flight from a beautiful sightseeing experience to something you will talk about afterward. The loops and rolls are exciting, but because the pilot was calm and clearly knew exactly what he was doing, I never felt like the experience crossed into chaotic or unsafe.

The aerobatics were the biggest wow moment of the flight.

Why I would choose the single package

The double package essentially gives you more of the same maneuvers. We loved it, but once you have done a loop, roll, and wingover in an open-cockpit biplane, you have already gotten the experience you came for. The second set is fun—not necessary.

That makes the single upgrade the better value. I would put the $50 savings toward the HD video instead, because the footage gives you something completely different: a way to relive the experience afterward.

Who should skip the aerobatics

THE VERDICT: Spend the extra money on aerobatics—but stop at the single upgrade. That is the sweet spot between excitement and value.
